Fostering Young Talents: English Competition Highlights TBI Festival at Islamic Institute of Hasanuddin Pare

Pare, East Java – 22nd June 2025, As part of its annual academic celebration, the English Education Study Program at the Islamic Institute of Hasanuddin Pare successfully held a large-scale English Competition under the banner of the TBI Festival. This prestigious event aimed to encourage students across East Java to develop their English communication skills, build confidence, and showcase their linguistic talents in a competitive yet educational environment.

The competition attracted a total of 75 participants from approximately 30 Junior High Schools and Senior High Schools spread across East Java. The event was divided into four major categories:

  1. Speech Contest (Junior High School)
  2. Speech Contest (Senior High School)
  3. Story Telling (Junior High School)
  4. Singing English Songs (Senior High School)

Each category was carefully designed to suit the age and skill levels of the participants while providing them with an exciting platform to express their creativity and mastery of the English language.

The Speech Contest for Junior High School students was filled with excitement and passion. Young speakers delivered powerful speeches on a variety of thought-provoking topics. The participants impressed the judges with their well-structured arguments, confidence, and fluent delivery.

The winners in this category were:

🥈 Pradipta Jati, also from MTsN 1 Kediri,

🥉 Lalu Rayyan Chandrawinata from MTs Miftahul Ulum Sidogiri.

The Story Telling competition for Junior High School allowed students to bring stories to life through expressive narration, creative gestures, and vivid imagination. Participants shared a wide range of tales—from folk stories to original narratives—each delivered in fluent English with emotional depth.

🥉 Naura Almaira Azzahra from MTsN 1 Kediri,

 

For the Senior High School category, the Speech Contest featured more mature and thought-provoking topics, with participants demonstrating a higher level of critical thinking and command of the English language. The judges praised the students for their persuasive techniques, logical structure, and stage presence.

The winners were:

🥈 Abi Ridho Dharma Putra from MA Arrahmah Papar,

🥉 Frezia Akisya from MAN 3 Kediri.

 

The Singing Competition was one of the most lively and entertaining segments of the event. Participants selected popular English songs and performed them with impressive vocal ability, musicality, and stage charisma. The judges assessed not only vocal technique but also emotion, pronunciation, and stage presence.

The top three performers were:

🥈 Retno Surya from SMK Canda Bhirawa Pare,

🥉 Muhammad Idza Rulhaq from MAN 3 Kediri.

 

The TBI Festival’s English Competition proved to be a vibrant celebration of language, learning, and youthful energy. As the applause echoed through the halls of the Islamic Institute of Hasanuddin Pare, one thing was clear: the future of English education in East Java is bright and full of promise.
